Antique Emolline pot lid with glass bottle

Antique Emolline pot lid with glass bottle

A Victorian Emolline blue button pot lid, complete with an original glass bottle. An early variation of this blue ironstone chemist lid with cross shaded ‘EMOLLINE’ typography, it does not feature the Tavern street address like later examples. Instead, arched typography for Cornell & Cornell is inside a wide double pinstripe border, which surrounds classical scrolling details and only the name of the town of manufacture - Ipswich.

Lid:

4.6cm diameter

1.8cm deep

Bottle:

5.1cm diameter

8cm tall

8.8cm tall when lidded

Condition:

There is a tiny surface flea bite beneath the S of ‘Ipswich’, along with some crazing around the rim, firing marks and wear.

The bottle has some ‘sickness’ clouding, along with a chip/scrape on the shoulder. This does not overly detract though and it still displays nicely.
