Grafton's patent Lightning Egg beater - size 1
A Victorian white ironstone pottery egg beater, modelled in the cylindrical form with a flared foot and decorated with the scarce black underglaze advertising transfer for 'Grafton's Patent 11075 Lightning Egg Beater'. The underside is not marked, but other examples bear the Edge Malkin & Co. Burslem whippet mark dating it to 1871 - 1891.
Among the rarest designs of ironstone egg beaters and an essential for any serious collection, this example is in lovely original condition and has a superb strike of the decorative black underglaze transfer.

Condition:
Glaze crazing and wear, along with a couple of fine hairlines in the rim and one tiny flea bite on the back side, but these do not overly detract.
